Over the past six months, thanks to your generous support, ISF has distributed 6,000 copies of ISF’s Dari translations – including the Nasrudin titles and our illustrated children’s edition, Speak First and Lose – to Afghan refugees recently arrived in the UK. We have been working with Care4Calais, Bath Welcome Refugees, the Refugee Council, the Afghan Association, Hop Scotch, Positive Action, Refuweegee and several local councils. The feedback we have received from these organisations has all been positive, with the Afghan Association telling us that Afghans visiting their centre have been delighted to have access to books in Dari. Meantime, Refuweegee is including copies of Shah’s books in their ‘welcome packs’ for Afghans arriving in Glasgow.
